I figured it out. The "-r" will put a .zfs directory and snapshot at every directory level instead of just at the root level. Originial question: Can anyone explain the "-r" option for zfs snapshot command? I currently use a command similiar to: zfs snapshot data-pool/data-pool@Tuesday which does traverse through the filesystem and get all of the directories/files. However, the man page says the "-r" recursively creates snapshots of all descendant datasets. What's the difference?
