Thanks for all that replied and helped troubleshoot this issue. There were 2 problems. 1. The DHCP vendor for a T5240 had not been configured in jumpstart.conf This was found by snooping the dhcp packets and seeing how the client was reporting itself and checking what was supported in the dhtadm config table/jumpstart.conf. Not used dhcp for jumpstart before so was a good learning curve. We use it as this server is on a different subnet to the JS box. 2. Version of Solaris Check the product notes!!!! Solaris 10 8/7 was not supported on the T5240 - unless it is patched with a number of mandatory patches. We are using such an old version of Soalris because we were trying to stick to the version the app has been tested on and patching is not really done here :) so way behind. The options were to patch the jumpstart distribution of Sol 10 8/7 or install a later version of Solaris. Have put on Sol 10 10/09 and it works fine! T5240 - DHCP jumpstart fails I have a T5240 which i want to jumpstart via dhcp but this process keeps failing. I dont believe that we have booted this server type from this jumpstart server before. DHCP seems to be working correctly, hostname is correct and the bound IP all correct. The jumpstart directories are all shared ok. Looking at the dhcp lease table i can see an IP handed out to my host. Looking in the dhcp table i can see that a macro exists for the host and matches the MAC address for interface i am booting from. dhtadm -P test0202 Macro :SrootPTH=/data/jumpstart/media/OS_OS10_SPARC_807/Solaris_10/Tools/Boot:Sins t PTH=/data/jumpstart/media/OS_OS10_SPARC_807:SrootIP4=X.18.144.14:SrootNM=X.1 8 .144.14:SinstIP4=X.18.144.14:SinstNM=X.18.144.14:SjumpsCF="X.18.144.14:/opt/ S UNWjet":SsysidCF="172.18.144.14:/opt/SUNWjet/Clients/testhost02":BootSrvA=X. 1 8.144.14:BootFile=X.X.X.X: Any ideas of what could be the problem or ideas on troubleshooting?
