Hi all,

About a week and a half ago, I sent out a question about the time
sendmail will wait for a remote sendmail to announce that it (the
remote sendmail) is ready to accept messages. Here is my summary of
responses.

QUESTION:

> So I'd like to know if there is a way to change the amount of time
> sendmail will wait before timing out a connection while *delivering*
> a message.

ANSWER:

The basic answer from the replies I received is that there is no way
for me to change the timeout length. According to people who checked
4.0.3 source code, this value is hard-encoded into sendmail.

So I guess I'm stuck for the time being. But thanks to all who
replied:

William LeFebvre <phil@pex.eecs.nwu.edu>
brian@ucsd.edu (Brian Kantor)

I guess this sort of problem is the price we have to pay for living in
an imperfect world in which everyone wants to keep their source code
"proprietary". Will we never learn....
