The original question was :
***************************************************************************
I really need to connect an Archive Python 2aGB dat to a 4/370 (arch -k : sun4)
running SunOS 4.1.1 this weekend. I've done this on an IPC and for the
machine to recognize the device I edited /sys/scsi/targets/st_conf.c and made
a new kernel. Where is the corresponding file for 4/370? There is no
/sys/scsi on that macine!
BTW. What are the appropriate parameters to use with dump using this tape?

I got 3 replies all of which suggested modifying /sys/sundev/st_conf.c.
Unfortunately this file doesn't exist on this machine! There is
another called streg.h which showed some resemblance to
/sys/scsi/targets/st_conf.c on the IPC's (initialization of
st_drive_tab ) so we have been editing this file, building new kernels
and testing the tape drive.
First of all we duplicated the entry for the Exabyte and changed the
vendor and product names.
To begin with it always insisted on being an Archive QIC-150. After
commenting out the entry for that one it reported like an Exabyte
8200. (this is with "mt -f /dev/rst0 stat", it never shows up when booting)
Then we increased some dimensions in st_drive_table to make
room for all of the product name as reported when the drive was
connected to an IPC. Then we get :
root@hafsjor/sys/sun4/conf [37] > mt -f /dev/rst0 stat
(null) tape drive:
sense key(0x0)= no sense residual= 0 retries= 0
file no= 0 block no= 0
We have tried everything we can think of but still it gives us
an error after writing ~150MB. So if anyone has ever done this please
help us!!
