Subject: patch 100343-02
Date: Fri, 02 Apr 93 20:57:47 -0500
Patch 100343 is supposed to allow SunOS 4.1.1 systems to use a SCSI
disk greater than 1GB. I got 100343-02 and it has a fix only for the
sun4c. Did they not make one for sun4, or do I just not need one?

The answer is that a patch for sun4 architecture is not needed. The
latest version of this patch, 100343-05, however, includes a new
format.dat which they say must be installed if you have a sun4. This
was not in my version of the patch.
To quote Steiner Haug:
The reason for this is (as far as I know) that sun4 uses the so
called "old" SCSI architecture, while sun4c uses SCSA (Sun
Common SCSI Architecture). The patch is only for the SCSA
drivers.
