SUMMARY: System upgrade using a remote CD

Thanks to everyone who responded within hours of my posting on Friday
evening. There must really be a lot of Geek sysadmins out there
spending their friday nights reading news articles ;-)

My original question was:

I have a Sun 4/260 running SunOS 4.1.1 that I want to upgrade to 4.1.3.
However, the upgrade software is on a CD while the 4/260 supports only
QIC-24 format cartridge tapes. I do however, have a Sun CD on a SPARC 20
running Solaris 2.4. How do I go about doing the upgrade?

The Simplest Solution:

Mount the CD on the SPARC 20 and export it for NFS mounting.
On the Sun 4/260, mount it as /usr/etc/install/tar and run the
Sunupgrade shell script.

While this worked, something weird happened. After the upgrade, the
next time I touched the SPARC 20 console, it crashed.
I did a dummy upgrade all over again and the SPARC 20 crashed again.
I have no idea why.
