Hi!
Many thanks to all who responded !!

For any of the processors sold by Sun, you should be able to run
without any patches. For the Ross processors, get the patch from
Ross. It comes in two forms, either a precompiled generic kernel
or some .o files that allow you to make a customized kernel.
I have been told that 4.1.4 supports all except the slow (72 MHz or
less) Ross processors with no modification.

It comes from Ross. If you are installing dual Sun processors, or Ross
processors other than the 72MHz ones, you can also just upgrade to 4.1.4.
That has Ross support built in.
Remember that you won't get multitasking with multiple processors. Each
job can only use one processor. You *will* get an improvement if you're
running multiple jobs, though, since each one will run on its own processor.

A ROSS hyperSPARC upgrade kit includes;
hyperSPARC processor module(s)
Installation manual
Anti-static handling aids
CD-ROM with patches for 4.1.3 and 4.1.3_U1
Boot PROM(s)
All the above will be included in any upgrade kit as supplied by ROSS
Technology or a valid ROSS representative. If the above is not supplied,
then the modules may be from an unofficial source and the warranty may
be not be valid.

Hi Max,
Ross sends a CDROM with the patches on it with the processors (whether you
need it or not).
They also send a ROM upgrade that some machines need.

I believe the patch for the Ross hyperSparc cpus is called SunOS 4.1.4.
