My original question was why a level 5 dump would go back past
a level 0 dump and back up old files. The timestamp on the
files show that they are older than the level 0 dump timestamp
in the /etc/dumpdates.
The answer from Daniel E. Singer (des@cs.duke.edu) is that
although the file may not have been changed, if its inode
got changed (permissions, ownership...) it's included in the
dump.
