Thanks to all who replied.

I am running Solaris 2.4. The in.named that comes with
Solaris 2.4 has a memory leak.

Sun has a patch that fixes this problem: 102479-02.

#102479-xx (where xx is the latest revision number). I think it should be
freely available on www.sunsolve.com.
