My original question:
### Start
Dear all,
Why does 'man' spew the following message at my screen?
# man hosts.equiv
Reformatting page. Wait...nroff: cannot create temp file.
done
#
The file permissions on /tmp is 3777.
### End
Answer: For some strange reason there were no /usr/tmp in our system.
The following:
# cd /usr
# ln -s /var/tmp tmp
... fixed it.
Q: I recently installed freeware from the internet and maybe the
scripts that it executes when running the 'pkgadd' command did some
dubious stuff?
Thanks a stack.
