Solaris has 'em, but calls them pipes in the filesystem, so that tests
like `-S' in Perl come up false. I finally figured out how to get
Perl to talk in both directions across the pipe, so I should be able
to things working now.
If anyone is interested, the project is to write a client/server setup
to let users on X Terminals access floppy drives on Linux boxes which
are connected basically as dumb terminals. (At some point, I may make
the Linux machines full fledged servers, but right now I don't have
the time to convince the Solaris servers and the Linux machines to
play nice together. :)
Thanks to Casper Dik and P.K. Shiu for their timely responses.
