Sun-Managers,
A special thanks to David Willard who provided the solution that worked!!
He said - I had a similar problem with another application. I solved it by
reducing
the number of colors on the PC screen, all the way down to 256.
You might want to give that a shot.
I did just that via the Windows menus & I was elated to see it work as
advertised!!!
Thanks also to:

What a Mail-List! You have come through again!!
Thank You!!!

The original message was as follows:
Sun Managers,
I am trying to get an xterm session established on a PC (pentium processor -
host name = "b2wkstn2") running Windows for Workgroups and Novell's LAN
Workplace ver. 5 from a Sun SPARC20 (host name = galaxy) running
SunOS 4.1.4 & X11R3. The LWP5 software provides the X-Window
functionality on the PC.
When I enter the command from galaxy (SPARC20)
xterm -display b2wkstn2:0
I get the following error message:
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for
operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 91 (X_QueryColors)
Value in failed request: 0x0
Serial number of failed request: 22
Current serial number in output stream: 22
I hooked up a sniffer to get the details of the X_QueryColors data packets
and
they are as follows:
1. galaxy -> b2wkstn2
Sniffer Summary screen:
XWIN C Query Colors
Sniffer Details screen:
XWIN: Request opcode = 91 ( Query Colors )
XWIN: Colormap = 00000024
XWIN: Pixel = 00000000
XWIN: Pixel = 00000000
2. b2wkstn2 -> galaxy
Sniffer Summary screen:
XWIN R Value Error Query Colors
Sniffer Details screen:
XWIN: Error Code = 2 (Value)
XWIN: Bad Value = 00000000
I'm new to the X Window protocol, but it looks like there is something wrong
or incompatible with the colormap on the PC & the Sun. I believe the PC is
using X11
version 11.0.4, Image = LSB, Bitmap = MSB, & it's from "AGE Logic, Inc.".
I can successfully xterm to another Sun and a DEC Alpha, but not the PC.
Can someone tell me what the problem is? Any help would be greatly
appreciated!!
