I had a problem with a new machine that had trouble with ypcat and
NFS mounting. The original message is included below.
Replies came from casper@holland.Sun.COM (Is this the omnipresent Casper
Dik?) and brw@jazz.njit.edu (Brian). Both had correct suggestions which
led me to the solution. It was a stupid typing error. In /etc/hosts
I had mistyped the IP address of a machine which is both the NIS server
and an NFS server. In fact, I had typed the address of the new
client machine itself. No wonder it was so confused! The two addresses
differ in only one digit, so I didn't notice it on a cursory inspection.
Thanks!
