Thanks for responses from:

Luiz and Ada said there was a problem with Solstice 2.2
and that installing Solstice 2.3 would fix it.
Rick suggested patch 103502-07 and that I might have a trailing dot
in /etc/defaultdomain, which was not the problem.
Upgrading to Solstice 2.3 was part of the solution,
but to fix the problem I also had to install patch 104468-06
(Solstice Adminsuite 2.3 Jumbo patch, y2000, NIS+, 2.6).
I first tried 104468-04 which was on the July Sunsolve CD,
but the problem was still there.
So - conclusion:
If you install the NIS+ patches 103612-23 and 103686-02,
you MUST also upgrade to Solstice 2.3 and install patch 104468-06.

Is there a patch to Solstice Adminsuite 2.2,
or is there a bug in one of the recent NIS+ patches ?
Environment is Solaris 2.5.1, NIS+ and Solstice 2.2,
have been running stable for a long time.
Then after applying the latest patches from the July Sunsolve CD,
the following problem occurs:
Trying to open the password table by starting user manager in
Solstice, with Naming service: NIS+ and Domain: xx.yy (shown in
the 'User Manager: Load' popup without a '.' at the end,
as always, identical to defaultdomain),
I get 'The operation failed with this status:
'xx.yy' is not a valid NIS+ domain.'
If I add the '.' manually I am able to open the table and display
the data, but trying to modify a users password then gives:
The operation failed with this status: modify_user method failed:
/usr/bin/addcred: domain of principal 'zzz.xx.yy..' does not match
destination domain 'xx.yy.'.
Has anyone experienced the same ?
The standard 'defaultdomain' setting have always been without a trailing dot,
while the NIS+ domain name has a dot, so untill now Solsyice Adminsuite
have been adding the '.' to the domain name when opening the NIS+ tables.
The most recent patches applied related to NIS+ was 103612-23 and 103686-02.
We also have 103680-01,103643-03,103770-02, 103785-01, 103995-01.
