SUMMARY: Sparc 5 hangs (locks up)

Problem:
Some Sparc5 s running Solaris 2.4 gradually slow down and then lock up
when not used for some time (over the weeke-end) and I find the
/var/adm/message file filled with messages like this --
                      Unix: pseudo-device: vol0
                      Unix: vol0 is /pseudo/vol@0
