Thanks to all that answered.
This is the old problem of
"Ask 20 people, and you will get 40 answers."
But be that as it may, it appears that the most logical
answer, being that I am using a DDS-3 format is:
0cn
I have no idea what the "b" for berkeley mode does or
why I would want to use it or if it has any advantages
or disadvantages in relation to DDS-3 formated tapes.
I also received answers saying that the "c" for compression
would not be necessary being that the DDS-3 drive has its
own compression. This point I am not at all clear on.
Logically, it would seem that the /dev/rmt file in and of itself
is nothing more than an indicator or a messenger so to speak
that tells the DDS-3 drive in essence, "Yes, I want compression."
But that the device file in and of itself does not do compression.
So logically, this would mean that I would want to use
the 0cn file. Of course the "n" indicating that there is no rewind.
Thanks again, and if anyone knows about the Berkeley function
in relation to DDS-3, I would much appreciate your help in
understanding this function.
