Hi all,
I would like to install Solaris 2.6 on Sparc Station 4 but i don't want it
to have anything graphic on it, since these servers will be used as mail
gateways only and no one will ever use them as workstations. What are the
packages i need to avoid installing in this case? is there someplace i
can know what i need to do for this kind of installation?

All you need is the lowest level core environment...this is how
we build our firewall machines (which also act as sendmail
mail-relay's, so I know it works) Hope this helps...

on the Solaris 2.6 there are 4 types of installation :
(server, desktop, developer ...)choose the smallest , most basic one.

On the screen where you pick entire distrubition thru bare bones, hit
customize, and deselect anything that says, Openwindows or CDE.

I usually mv /etc/rc2.d/S99dtlogin to /etc/rc2.d/xS99dtlogin to prevent
the Desktop Login from displaying.
