Managers,
Thanks to all that replied.
There appears to be three popular methods of running a
different window manager from the Dtlogin.
The slickest way ( I thought) is to create 4 files in the /etc/dt/config
directory. This allows the user the choice in the options->session
menu at the dtlogin.
/etc/dt/Xresources
/etc/dt/Xsession.twm
/etc/dt/Xsession.twm2
/etc/dt/Xinitrc.twm
(can send them to anyone interested)
Faults: Could not get dtlogin to remember the last session, i.e., twm
*
Can also edit ~/.dtprofile
Add SESSIONTYPE=xdm; export SESSIONTYPE
A user can then use the .wm -> /some/wm (link) to use preferred wm
configuration files will be necessary. i.e, .fvwmrc
Note: The user will no longer be able to choose CDE or Openwindows at the
Options->Session menu.
The simplest method and the one we chose to implement is the
use of the .xinitrc file in the users home directory.
Create a .xinitrc file in the home directory
this file should point to a window manager
The user then needs to log in through the OW
desktop at the Options->Session menu.
Thanks again,
Peter
