While there was some minor disagreement as to whether messages truly go
into the black hole or not, the resounding answer was log to @LOGHOST
and /var/adm/messages to prevent the loss of messages due to
transmission failure or flood of the syslogd port by a hacker. One
respondant did indicate a queueing of messages due to a badly configured
@LOGHOST which caused the syslogd process to grow until it brought the
system down. I'll perform my own tests on a non-production machine and
see what happens!
