SUMMARY How do I get DNS lookup wotking?

Thanks for the many, many replies. I recieved several replies
discussing routeing etc, but the real problem with my setup was in how
        I edited nsswitch.conf. I had put in:

        hosts: files dns

When I should ahve put in:

        hosts: files [NOTFOUND=continue] dns

Thanks to the couple of people that pointed this out. Once I did this,
it started working imeadiatly. I did not have to re-init any processes.
The order here will allow the local clusters to continue to work, even
if I lose conectivity to the corporate ameserver.

        Thanks, again
