SUMMARY: VNC on Solaris 2.7

The distribution from VNC will work - the problem
turned out to be that the /tmp/.X11-unix and /tmp/.X11-pipe
directories on my Solaris 2.7, E450 weren't world writeable.
These directories need to have 777 permissions.

All is working now.
