Well,
I wouldn't expect that I could make a summary this fast!
It's pleasant to know that a vendor's Technical Support can beat the
response and helpfulness of Sun Manager mailing list!
Sun Technical Support got back to me after I sent a similar
question to it around the same time I made a post to the list:
Here is an excerpt from Sun's Tech Support engineer:
I have loaded the solaris 8 software and found that the information I
was given is wrong. The software packages are on the Solaris 8
software cd 2 of 2.
You may view the packages by:
/Solaris_8/EA/products/DiskSuite_4.2.1/sparc/Packages
You can install each manually or have them installed for you.
To do the install via GUI, go to:
/Solaris_8/EA/installer A window will prompt for your root password
and start the installation GUI.
I believe that this should rectify any previous problems. I apologize
for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
It's accurate and courteous. For a company that already multi-billion
dollar market cap, Sun is doing something right.
Sincerely,
Chin Fang
