SUMMARY: files and directories limits

        Every answers agree that the limit is the number of inode I can use in
the filesystem.

        It isn't recommended to use a lot of files in a directory like 5k,
because it will result in a bad access performance. A better solution
is distribute the files in some directories.

        The command wrote by Kallberg it's very useful:

# df -F ufs -o i
Filesystem iused ifree %iused Mounted on
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 4041 71223 5% /
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s1 38918 291450 12% /usr
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s3 1064 99288 1% /var
