I received several suggestions:
1. Disable Stop-A, and/or adopt a "zero tolerance" policy
for users who interrupt or power cycle their workstations.
2. Add "fsck -y" to /etc/init.d/MOUNTFSYS right before the
"mountall -l".
3. Modify "foptions" in the /sbin/rcS script to add the "-y"
option for ufs file systems.
4. Upgrade to Solaris 7 or 8 and enable "UFS Logging".
Details about this are in the man pages for mount_ufs(1M).
For the short term I am going to try option 2 or 3. For the
long term I will look into option 4, which sounds like it should
eliminate the problem completely. Option 1 is sensible idea,
but is not practical in this particular computing environment.
