Thanks to all respond to me.
Nearly, eveyone mentioned to do the reverse and exclude some strings from
/var/adm/messages and capture the other as alert.
Also, I got lots of response that, not to invent the wheel while it exist and
use the existing software like swatch (http://www.stanford.edu/~atkins/swatch/)
or Big Brother or logwatcher.
But the main answer which direct me to right point was from madhu
(madhu.narasimhan@media.net) and Rick francis (rfrancis@mindspring.com) who
mentioned this:
>you could also set *.crit to /var/log/critlog in /etc/syslog.conf to capture
>all crit errors.
My original message is this:
I'm writing a script to look for any critical alerts in
/var/adm/messages (And feedback to system admin) and I wonder what exact
strings should I look for. I have added some strings from my experience
but is there any reference for critical errors like
harddisk/CPU/MEM/.... on /var/adm/messages for Solaris ?
